hey guys,
my band is going to try recording again shortly and we have no mic cables. so i was about to buy some when i realized some are low impdance. when should i use the low impedance ones? i will be using mics + xlr outputs from amps ect. also how much does quality affect the tone?

Are you refering to the mics or cables here?

1st off cables don't have impedance (well not much to speak of) mics do.

99% of the common mics you encounter are low impedance mics that will require a standard three wire XLR cable...have a question about a specific mic look it up on the web but if you see an XLR jack its just about got to be low impedance....there might be some odd ball mics out there that are not.

As far as tone and mic cables you have little to worry about. Just grab whatever you local shop carries...Switchcraft and Nutrex ends are good....Rapco and Peavey are branded cables will work for you. For mic cables just think sturdy.
