Mic for Kodak Zi8 DVC?

I bought one of these... a lot of people post their videos on YouTube with them.
I want some good audio from it... I hate to buy a microphone when I, just like so many of you have vocal mics laying around everywhere.
Could I just plug a Shure SM58 into it with XLR to 3.5mm adpts?...
I have matching transformers if I needed them I guess.
I wonder if my results would be just as good or better than buying a $60 camera mic.

Anybody have any experience with this?

I figured it out... Just need to go into a board and come out via the RCA outputs with a RCA to 3.5mm plug
