Mic recommendations

Re: Mic recommendations

I've heard nothing but good things about those... they're really that versatile, huh?

Yah. Use 'em on kick drums, toms, assorted percussion... timbales, conga... dejembe... tambourine's & shakers, guitar amps, bass amps, upright bass... fiddle... horns, leslie & keys... melodica... vocals, lotta hardcore & punk "screamo" stuff but even really great vocalists too... it's a broadcast mic like the RE20 & SM7... they get substituted a lot.

And no, the clips don't always break.

They will if you put the safety tape in the wrong place. I've had mine for a long time & they were old when I got 'em... if 'ya take care of your stuff the clips are fine.

Re: Mic recommendations

Another nod to the Heil PR30 here for cab use.

Again on Wah Wah's recommendation
The engineer had never heard one, so we set it up along with a few of his favorites. I left it up to him to do his gig. As we were listening to playback, I asked him what combination we were listening to. He said "that's just the Heil...that's all we need." I couldn't agree more. Fantastic through a good PA too, it just sounds like a very large version of your amp.

Exactly what happened to us in the studio when I brought the PR30 with me for the cab - We listened to all the variations of mic combinations on the guitar tracks and I settled for almost pure PR30 in the end.

Re: Mic recommendations

PR30 sounds like a winner.
IME ,the Sennheiser 906 is their best guitar/instrument mic. It has this full sound i appreciate.

Re: Mic recommendations

So the PR-30 is a dynamic right. Do you position it the same way you would a sm57? Like a couple inches from the cone of the speaker?
