Mick Mars' Shout At The Devil Tone

What's the deal with that? Is it his amps? Is it all mids? What is it? It has such a defined tone to it that he's the only one I've ever heard have. I like it, but at the same time it sounds kinda crappy. It totally works for those songs though. So anyways, I guess my question is...what is it making it sound like that. Is it his amps, pedals, eq, or what?

It's not a tone I'm searching for. These are just the things I ponder.

i forget what the pedal was but it is a Les Paul Custom thru some 70's Marshalls with a distortion box in front....

i would think it's a combo of the gear and the way it was recorded

Sounds like he's got some mids cut and the tone down on the guitar.
