Mick Sweda- Appreciation and gear talk

The song Smooth up to me is a killer. Ripping playing and tearing up on a lester.. I liked THC Groove too. This guy was a monster that didnt seem to get his just props..

Any idea on gear used? Obviously a Les paul, which was unusual in the Hair days..
Look at the paul in this vid.. Is that a P90 in the neck?? Godfather of the BFD??

Any idea what ever happened to him??
Marq Torrien (sp?) is singing and playing guitar these days

Re: Mick Sweda- Appreciation and gear talk

Only thing he was a father of was being a follower, Bulletboys were a tag along on the sleaze scene in the late 80's. They never took off for a reason....a Van Halen clone on vocals, Slash wanna be on guitar and a couple nameless guys on bass and vocals. Add a bassist that thought it was cool to leave his jeans unbottoned. They sucked so bad I wil probably have nightmares this evening. Mick was punted if favor of Jason Hook but they still never did anything worth much.

Mick was in King Kobra with vocalist Mark Free.....who now does the country club scene as Marcy Free.....yes folks he is now a she

Ouch.. haha Yeah, 100% original ? No.. Entertaining? I thought so... The singer was a def DLR wanna be..
I thought they didnt get too popular cuz their songs and lyrics were not real catchy. Obscure. That and they were on the tail end too

I wasn't a fan but I did really like their cover of Hang On St Christopher.

LOL...more than we really wanted to know! How do people know these things?

I remember them Bullet Boys. I always thought the the singer had a cool sounding voice. It would have been very cool to hear it employed on some really good material. I really never thought much of the band itself.

Re: Mick Sweda- Appreciation and gear talk

I liked 'em. The most original thing on the planet at the time? No. Recall Ted Templeman was producing, so the VH thing was going to be amplified a few times...;) Jimmy D'Anda's a great drummer. Marq's got a great voice.
As for gear, I remember Mick having a wall of Boogies by the Freakshow days...

Re: Mick Sweda- Appreciation and gear talk

That dude (Mick) did have a unique tone, which I too really liked.

Re: Mick Sweda- Appreciation and gear talk

I saw Bulletboys live one time years ago and they freakin jammed!!

Re: Mick Sweda- Appreciation and gear talk

Mick usually used a LP split stereo to a Marshall Superlead and a Soldano SLO, both on Marshall 1960 cabs. Pretty minimal FX. That's all I can remember off hand.

I used to hang out with them, since we lived in the same area....Torrance/Gardena area.
For a short time, I was in a band with Lonnie's younger brother, and we used the rehearsal garage behind their parent's house where BB rehearsed prior to being signed.
