That setup can be expensive since you need to also buy a PA-2 preamp to make the EXG work if you're not running EMG's. This looked like a cheaper alternative.

According to EMG's site, the EXG, SPC, and other accessories work with passives without needing a PA-2.

yes I figured the price is worth. Just that material wise (generic stuff) you could build that for a reasonable price. of course you wouldnt want a generic thing coloring your tone, so you go for the more expensive components. Totally agree.

Also about build time--> 100% agreed.

the comment was about that if you did those little projects by yourself for fun or to mess around, the overall cost would be what i said before =)

and also agree with being a cool product. its great to see people that use those small "mess around for fun" projects to help others achieve their tone (and also make some money without abusing of course-)

Very true. In fact, I'm one who has lambasted the Fulltone Fatboost on several occasions because its $4 - $10 worth of parts, (not counting the case), that they sell for $180.
