Middle pickup to complement a Black Winter set

A friend of mine is looking to put a BW set in a HSH Ibanez Saber. He wants a humbucker in the middle. I suggest a Little 59 for the middle but I am open to suggestions for him. The guy is a hard rock player but this guitar will be for the more classic metal leanings he has. I was also thinking the JB Jr.

Not split and I would imagine he will play the middle clean or slight overdrive.
