Fender has some great SS stuff that sounds great clean. Run your POD into it for dirt and you're done.

I started looking into the Fender stuff. It seems like most of it is the Frontman series. Don't know much about them, I will see if any of the local shops have some.

What about an Atomic Amp? Not sure on price, but you'd get to use your POD with it, so all your familiar sounds are
there.

I had thought about this, but I don't want to take my POD out with me. Its mounted to a massive pedal board at the moment that I do not want to take to gigs. I want to keep the signal chain as simple as possible and I can't take the POD off without deystroying some of the cables.

Yup , I had an Ulitimate Chorus for years and the cleans were beautiful. The reverb and chorus were fantastic too. I'd like to grab another when I have a chance.

you could get the cheapest cabinet (1x12 or 2x12 would probly be fine) and a used Crate Powerblock...or maybe a bigger cabinet and a Valve Jr. Those are cheap and sound decent from what I hear.

i would really rather keep it as a combo. Less to set up and less to trouble shoot.

A roland Cube-60 sounds perfect for what you need, really great cleans and tough as hell for the stage.

Yeah I was thinking about these or maybe a Vox Valvtronic.

How about an inexpensive SS Power amp and a cheap 2x12 cab to use with your POD?

Would rather keep the combo format.


I also thought about picking up a pair of used Fender Blues Jr or Pro Jr. Only if combined they would be loud enough in a band setting. I would have to research it some more. Keep one to replace the little Vox I have now. It has a low enough wattage rating that I could use it around the house or record with it. And once summer ends sell off the other one. Or buy one and use it in practice and then borrow another amp to also use at gigs. Just a thought. I am sure there is a more sensible option.

I dont think two of the same amps running at the same volume are going to give you twice the volume, its a weird physics thing. I read somewhere that you need 10 of the same outputting speakers to achieve double the volume.

if you're interested in a Blues JR, look at those crate palomino 15w class A amps, 112 speaker and a really great sounding combo. I'm almost sure it will be loud enough for any show you throw at it, providing larger venues will have a system you can mic it up with. Im looking into them myself.

if you're interested in a Blues JR, look at those crate palomino 15w class A amps, 112 speaker and a really great sounding combo. I'm almost sure it will be loud enough for any show you throw at it, providing larger venues will have a system you can mic it up with. Im looking into them myself.

I was pretty sure it wouldn't be twice the volume. I don't even think I will go down that path. Seems like more money and work than it is worth.

Well if the band actually decides to get back together I think I will just get an Atomic Reactor. I will just have to learn how to program the POD on the fly without the computer. This way I can make use of the gear I already have and it keeps my setup pretty simple.

My current board I think I am going to have to dismatle anyway so removing the POD and cutting the cables has become less of a deal. The cables can be snipped and reused they're George L's. I think with the board I am going to have to break it down into 2 boards. 1 with my Big Muff and Wah (maybe the TS9). The second board I will just leave at home for recording purposes containing my Looper, Delay, Flange, EQ, etc.

The pedals on board 1 are the ones I use the most both in bedroom playing and when I played live. Board 2 I don't ever really use these effects so taking them with me everyware will just give me more problems than it is worth.

If I'm out playing I like to fiddle with the treb, bass, and mids of the amp so I can get it to sound right with the room, but I like to have all of my effects set so I don't have to worry about them. So the POD will work out well for that. At home I like to fiddle a lot and I've found the POD makes that a little more difficult and that is why I have kept all of my noise making pedals. Also at home I like to adjust several of the paramaters at one time to send things into chaos. When I record I can try it over and over until I get something usable. Live it never really worked out so if I can't do that its not really a big deal.

I might buy an Atomic anyway and sell of my little DA5 as I never use it. I should probably start saving.

Would 18 watts be enough to keep up with and be heard over, for solos, a second guitar player, a bass, loud loud drummer, and 2 vocalist? I imagine we would play mostly small clubs and bars. We might play 1 out door gig which I know we can plug into the PA for that. I generally keep my Mids way way up as well. I've thought about going to the 50 watt version, but after the summer the band will be done and I don't want to have a 50 watt amp being played at bedroom levels. I know the other guitarist always gigged with a Mashall SS combo. I think it was 50 watts, I don't know if he will use that again. I'm not even sure it is still functioning.

Edit: I might try the Tech 21 Power engine. Looks to be similar, but at a much cheaper price. Might be better if its only getting used for a summer.

After playing on a 15 watt tube amp all day I know that is going to be too loud to keep in the bedroom. I think I will just get the 50 watt Vox Valvetronix AD50VT(with adjustable output) big brother to my DA5 and that should take care of my problems.
