Anybody know the specs for the "special" Robert Cray pickups?

In this price range, most people could get roughly the same outcome by installing Fender C.S. replacement pickups in a MIM Classic Player series guitar. Just screw the bridge down flush against the top of the guitar. Simples.

I at one time owned both a Custom Shop USA model, and MIM. I had to sell the MIM for money to build my partscaster. I still have the CS one, but I would love another MIM one. I really hated to sell it. Great guitar. The neck is on the thicker side, and the pickups are very sweet vintage sounding pickups. They are not identical to the U.S.A. ones, or at least mine. My US one is a first year model. I'm told that Robert Cray wasn't happy with them original ones, and some where along the line they changed them to suit his preference. I'm told there are even some out there with Texas Specials too. So perhaps my MIM had pups closer to the newer USA CS ones, but they were pretty close to mine. Certainly not drastically different. screwing the trem down flat is not the same as a hard tail

Here are the specs:
The Fender Artist Series Robert Cray Stratocaster Electric Guitar gives you a lot of guitar for the money. Custom Shop pickups special wound to Cray's specs crank out hard-edged solos and gritty rhythm while a hardtail bridge allows bold multistring bends with solid intonation. Light polyurethane finish on the alder body ages gracefully, lets the wood "breathe," and helps get the price so low that now you don't have to suffer if you want to play the blues. C-shaped maple neck with 9-1/2"-radius rosewood fretboard and Cray's signature on the headstock. Fender includes a deluxe Fender gig bag with your Robert Cray Stratocaster.

It does have a c-shaped neck. I am concerned if the radius is the same as my 96th anniversary Jimmy Vaughn endorsed (not signature) Tex max Strat.

I read rave reviews about the pups. They are exactly the same as the MIA Robert Cray Strat.

Are these specs for the USA Custom Shop Robert Cray Strat?
I recall reading that the MIM one has Texas Specials.

Editted to add: I just read the part about the finish keeping the price down. Definitely can't be the USA Custom Shop version then.

The MIM I had did not have the TS pickups. I think mine was either a 2009 or 2010 model. The pickups were similar in appearance to the ones in my Custom Shop Cray Strat. The pole pieces get shorter as you get closer to the bridge, in a very noticeable way.

They also are much mellower than the TS pickups. Very vintage sounding, less harsh for sure. For the money the MIM is a steal in my opinion. I'm sorry I sold it, but I still have the other one.

I have decided I don't like hard tail strats as good as trem strats with a blocked trem or an operational trem. Its not that I think it turns a strat into a nashville tele. It still sounds like a strat but to me its missing something compared to one with a tremolo bridge even blocked. Sustain is usually great though.

Is Kate Upton from Switzerland or am I mixing her her up with another attractive blonde? The black girl is attractive too.
