MIM Stratocaster bridge replacement?

I was thinking of replacing the bridge on my MIM Fender Stratocaster and was wondering if:

a. it's worth it? ("worth it" in that I'll have better tuning stability, tone, etc.,)

b. what kind of bridge would you recommend installing?

FYI: The bridge is just the regular tremelo kind on all Standard MIM Strats.

(to see the already existing bridge go to: http://community.webshots.com/user/irongland and check out the P-90 in the Strat's bridge while you're at it! Freakin' Sweet!)

Re: MIM Stratocaster bridge replacement?

1. Yes, although still havent replaced mine. I'm 99% sure it will make a huge difference. Those PING-made bridges are made of cheap materials, they do not transfer the tone to the body as a high-grade bridge will do.

2. Callaham. They are THE best units out there.

Re: MIM Stratocaster bridge replacement?

1. "Ping" is the current bridge that's in the Strat now?

2. I tried to find the price for a replacement bridge, but then I wondered what getting a replacement bridge entailed. Do I need to by the kit w/ the screws, tremelo coils, and new bridge? or just the bridge?

3. The names also confused me on the price list...didn't seem to be the same as the ones in the "Strat Parts" section...how much would just the bridge go for? the kit?

Re: MIM Stratocaster bridge replacement?

Callaham is now making a direct replacement for the Mexi bridges. Best upgrade you can do to that guitar....well, a new nut and locking tuners....go with Callaham.

Re: MIM Stratocaster bridge replacement?

About $80 for a Fender '62 Reissue. Weighs, looks and sounds exactly the same as the three original '61, '62 and '63 Strat bridges I compared it to. They are all I use on my MIJ Strats. Read my thread on the pickup page: The Ultimate Stratocaster Tone. Lew
