Has anyone ever heard of a group called Minibosses? they do alot of old nintendo game music covers. I really love the lead tone they have going on. I was going to post a song of theirs on soundclick but apparently it needs to be cleared first. Anyway if you guys can, download Minibosses - megaman 2. the tone is amazing!

Would anyone know what gear these guys use?

Re: Minibosses tone

hahaha there's always so much debate about this (on the minibosses board).

if you're listening to their old stuff, the equipment is actually quite minimal.

the best way to get their tone is to use 11 gauge strings and lots of distortion.

the real problem with getting their tone is not having their fingers.

What does it consist of though? I know one guy uses a Fender Jaguar or something while the other uses a strat... what about amps?

Re: Minibosses tone

ok so I just went to the Minibosses site and downloaded some videos.

If you look at the Castlevania 2 video, you can plainly see the guitarist who uses the strat (which appears to be stock) is using a Bogner Shiva head.

I'm not sure about the guy with the Jaguar though... maybe a fender combo of sorts?

Take a look at the video for Castlevania 2, Live at Meltdown Comics. You will need the new quicktime to view it though.

Re: Minibosses tone

aaron plays a modded strat (though he's never said what kind of pickups he's using) into pretty much whatever amp is around (usually a jcm800-that bogner wasn't his and he doesn't use it anymore).

fred used to use a fender mustang (but he doesn't anymore-i know this because it's currently hanging on my wall) but now he uses a modded strat (hsh pickup config, i think he sticks to the middle pickup though) into a fender 4x10 deville.

they both use metal zones.
