Mixing channels

Can someone please explain what this does?
I'm talking about an amp with 4 inputs like a 'plexi' or something like that.
What happens when you mix the channels with a patch cable?
What is the point of that?

Any help would be great.

Rock on.

Re: Mixing channels

When you jumper the two channels together you end up with two preamps feeding the same power amp. It adds quite a bit of gain and pushes the power amp harder. With some amps one channel can be quite a bit brighter than the other and mixing the channels rounds out the tone.
