Mixing SD w/ Dimarzio pups?

I'm planning on putting SD Vintage P90's in my bridge & neck, while I'm thinking of a Dimarzio SDS1 rw/rp in the middle. Since the P90's will come as a pair & (I believe) hum cancelling when on together, am I going to run into hum issues, no matter how minor, when I'm in the 2 & 4 positions? I'm thinking (dangerous) that with one of the P90's being reversed, I'll have hum issues in one of those 2 positions. BUT, if I get a straight 'un-matched' pair of 90's, neck & bridge will be hum suspect, but 2&4 will be quiet!?? And, why an SDS1? I used to have one & liked it, & I want something in the same range, soundwise & outputwise as the P90 & might go well together. Just concerned about polarity stuff.
Thanks folks~~

Re: Mixing SD w/ Dimarzio pups?

Hum cancellation varies based on the resistance of the coils you're combining. A DiMarzio and a Duncan won't be any more or less hum cancelling than a pair of any pickups wound the same as the DiMarzio and Duncan. The further apart in resistance the two coils are, the less hum cancelling they'll be.

You will need to pay attention to the way they're wound. You may need to swap which wire you're using as the hot on the DiMarzio. Don't worry about that until you hook it up. If there's an issue, come back and ask, post a pic, and someone like ArtieToo will tell you how to fix it.

Gosh, I love this site!! Am I correct thinking that Vintage P90's come with one rw/rp? I think it's the Aniquities that don't come that way. Many thanks~

Gibson P-90s were not RWRP.
