Modding my Les Paul

Hey guys, I am looking for a little help about what all I need in terms of electronics to upgrade my Epi LP Std. I have just purchased a '59 set for my Paul and have heard that it is best to replace the pots and switch etc. when replacing stock pups with aftermarket ones. Is all I need the 4 pots, caps and switch? If there is anything else please inform me. Also what is the difference between (pros/cons) the 500k and 250k pots as well as the different caps?
Thanks Guys :)

you need the switch - obviously, 4 pots (i'd go 500k - they're typically used with humbuckers (they make the sound brighter to compliment the warm HBs while 250s make things warmer to compliment the single coils)
and caps
make an exact drawing of the original wriing and then its follow the leader

Blueline's right. Try to get CTS pots if at all possible (dimarzio repacks them as their own). They seem to be a bit more consistant than other company's pots.

When looking for pots, which ones do i get for my Epiphone, the standard or long shaft versions?

Re: Modding my Les Paul

The long shafts are for Gibsons, The standard shafts are what you want for Epiphones.
