Hello everyone,
I was PMimg Stratdeluxer telling him about how AMAZING his DS-1 mod and took the opportunity to ask him a few questions about modifying my wah. Then I thought, 'why not ask everyone else as well?' So if anyone could help with the questions below, that would be a huge help.
[also, it seems that there have been a few queries of this kind, perhaps someone with the know-how wouldn't mind writing up a comprehensive 'how-to' that could go in the 'Vault' forum. Just a thought.]
For reference, i'm trying to fit a Fulltone 3DPT switch, a Fulltone pot and a Fulltone inductor to a late 90's (possibly 2000 or 2001) Dunlop Crybaby.
1) is this http://www.geofex.com/FX_images/stompsw.gif website accurate on how to wire a Fulltone switch?
2) is this one http://members01.chello.se/pastorn/fx/mods/dunlop.htm accurate on sorting out the bypass? Also, do you think it's worth it to remove the buffer cicruit?
3) How do you fit an LED to the wah? I have a white LED and the guy at small bear electronics where I bought all the parts said I needed a 6.8K or 8.2K resistor, so I bought both.
4) Is it possible to remove the rocker? i.e. the top half of the wah pedal? (I want to coat the inside with reflective foil and fit the LED underneath it so you get a 'halo' when you turn it on).
5) I checked the Fulltone website for info on fitting the inductor (here http://www.fulltone.com/PDfFiles/In...Instruction.pdf). I think that the inductor it my crybaby has at the minute has 4 legs attatched to the circuit board, do I just remove it and solder in the two legs as per the instructions (which appear to be on a vox)?
6) For the pot, is it just a case of copying all the wire positions from the old pot to the new fulltone one? i.e. yellow left, black middle, blue right?
7) on the switch, there are two blue wires (one going to the pot, one to the 8-way hub thing) soldered together on one lug, a purple wire on the lug next to it (also going to the 8 way hub) and on the opposite side of the switch (what I assume is the output) a green wire going to the switch. What is doing what?
Many thanks
Adam
