Which do y'all prefer? Which are better? Boss modulation effects or Yamaha's? This means choruses, delays, flangers, phasers, etc....

Wow, I thought lots of people would chime in on this one for sure. Guess there's not a lot of traffic....

Re: Modulation effects - Boss vs Yamaha

I am a big Boss fan. Of my 50some processors, the vast majority are Boss. The ultimate modulation effect: Boss BF-3 Flanger.

I use 2 different Boss Chorus pedals(not at the same time). A CE2 and a CH1. Both are very good. IF I had to pick just one, I would pick the CE2. I don't have much experience with Flangers or Phasers/ I have used a MXR phaser about a million years ago. Don't remember much about it.

The first mod I fell in love with was a Boss Super Chorus. From there, I bought my own ME-50, and I am totally satisfied. I think Yamaha is a recent competitor on the market for effects? (not sure)

Re: Modulation effects - Boss vs Yamaha

I like both, but I voted for Yamaha. Yamaha's effects are excellent, especially reverb/delay. I use them moderately and Yamaha's analog simulation of flanges and choruses are really nice.

Re: Modulation effects - Boss vs Yamaha

I like the older Boss analog delays but they are real pricey these days, also like the Boss chorus pedals, I've got a Boss CE3.
I recently picked up a Yamaha Magic Stomp MKII , I had one of the first ones a few years ago.
The Magicstomp has some really great reverb, delay, and modulation effects.
It also has a lot of other things too, OD / Dist , amp models etc.., but the modulation effects are really what shines IMHO, I got mine used but still as new in the box for under $100.

Re: Modulation effects - Boss vs Yamaha

The truth is, Boss/Roland and Yamaha have been neck and neck rivals since the 70's, and most people percieve them as equal. You have to look at their high end processors and keyboard/workstations. Roland, Yamaha, and Korg seem to dominate the keyboard world, and all of them have cutting edge gear. It trickles down to their pedals and cheaper rack gear......still neck and neck.
