Monroe Drive is finalized….

So I finalized my Monroe Drive and #001 is already in the mail and on the way to its new home and #002 (in these pics) is done now and ready to ship (insert cheap plug here…PM me if you want it). I’m also working on #001 of the plain “Norma Jeane” version which will just be a candy apple red sparkle enclosure (not text or graphics but a sweeeeet color) with crème knobs. I’ll have pics next week of that one when I get a few parts I’m waiting on to finish it. Those will cost less since I don’t have to spend hours doing the full Marilyn graphic on them. The guts will be the same and the control layout the same also. so there will be no sound change, just looks for those who care more about tone and rather save some cash and pass on the extra sexy good looks of the full graphic version hehehehe. I can now take orders at any time (PM me for info on that) and here is the final version of the pedal and a control layout diagram….

I swapped the drive and tone knob locations since the prototypes…

Here is the control layout and what everything does…

As for the tone of the pedal, i went over that in my first post(s) along with bludave’s review so that info is just a quick search away on the forums.

A very nice job you've done on the graphics of that pedal man, I wish I could get my enclosures to look as good ;).

Love the look, though I'm not sure that font is the most readable choice...

Re: Monroe Drive is finalized….

Meh, as much as I like Marilyn, I could settle for a Norma Jean. What are they going for?

Re: Monroe Drive is finalized….

thanks guys.

the font is actually much more visable in person than in pics fo some reason. must be the contrast or something because it's certainly not hard to read the one sitting in front of me :D

LesStrat...that's why i decided to do the Norma Jeane plain version for those who just want good tone and don't need the extra graphics! the candy apple red sparkle is a real cool color though so it still looks real cool. check your PMs for price info.

Re: Monroe Drive is finalized….

Just got my Monroe Drive in today :fingersx: this baby smokes every other OD/distortion box i've ever plugged into. No matter how much gain you pile on, it retains note clarity and cleans up really nice with the guitars volume knob too. It turned the dull sounding Crate vintage 50 i play through at home into a toneful monster. I've just started messing with the little switches and there are tons of tones in this little box. Thanks again to Mike, i will most likely be selling off all my other ODs because the Monroe Drive does everything i could ever want out of a dirt box.

Re: Monroe Drive is finalized….

thanks VERY VERY much for the kind words!! you said it man, that's what i wanted to build a "do all OD pedal" that can go from just a little push to enough crunch to rock out and hear every note you play no matter where you set the knobs! that's the problem i had with other ODs stock or modded....fizzle, fuzz and mush in the tone that just wasn't wanted and a major lack of note clarity, harmonics and dynamics. i use the Monroe drive in front of a high gain channel on my dual recto to tighten things up and add note clarity and it works PERFECT at that also. it even helps get killer bedroom volume from a high gain 100w 4x12 cab 1/2 stack dual recto. i never had a pedal that would do that until i built this one and without a pedal in front of a dual recto at low bedroom volume they sound fizzy and a bit dead...but with it...full of life and that great recto chunk!

enjoy the pedal!!!

This is the review I wrote about it. Some guys get pretty technical about stuff like this. I for one don't. I don't usnderstand all the inner workings of pedals, amps and such, but I know what sounds good to me. The Monroe drive is one of the best Overdrive pedals I have ever used. It sounds huge through a great amp and with certain guitars it sounds like its about ready top punch a hole trough the wall. It can get very nasty, yet at the same time it is very detailed in character. The note definition is excellent. I can strum chords and hear every note yet when I play a solo the sustain and texture is supurb. This pedal will be on my board for a very long time thats for sure!!!!
