More bad news for Gibson

Re: More bad news for Gibson

Given that I think that the firebird shape is meh at best, no great loss.

Gibson should save some money by firing all but a few lawyers and focus on making the best guitars they can.

Simplify the lineup and remove the guitars that add unnecessary expenses but bring little revenue, focus on keeping only the best ones.

Did I say guitars? I meant lawyers.

I have no idea why they would have waited that long. Worse, is the lawyer who took the case trying to protect a 50 year old design that everyone has freely copied over time. He/She had to know they were going to lose that.

I'm sure that they also knew that, win or lose, they would still be getting paid.

Re: More bad news for Gibson

Why is this interesting?

Both designs are fugly enough not to be massively copied anyway.

I'm sure it must be a point somewhere that I'm failing to see?

I think the Firebird design is cool... it's the RD that's kind of an atrocity that's become hip lately.

Re: More bad news for Gibson

I think the RD is Gibson’s most attractive design - But the Firebird is my favorite typical Gibson style (not a Les Paul fan, at least the body shape.)

The *true* ugly is a non-reverse Firebird- Then again I’m an offset fan, and both Firebirds basically are uglier Jazzmasters.

Re: More bad news for Gibson

Lawyers work on time, not percentages

My point exactly. Which is why it's a good thing for them, because they wouldn't have gotten jack with this verdict.

Re: More bad news for Gibson

If they simply made consistently excellent guitars at a fair price, the competition copping their designs would not be a big enough threat to worry about. There's not a lot of danger from quasi-legal competition copying your **** if you simply provide people with what they want yourself. Instead of suing those copying their designs, they should try to make a product that is competitive with those companies.
