Or just install an LCD screen covering the entire face of the guitar and have it play videos in time with your music (this has to have been done before...but if not, it will be a thing).

Starting to move away from 'single color', but something like that has been done. The 1970 Rickenbacker 331 "Lightshow"

I actually know a guy who got kicked out of a dirty-glam band because he showed up at a gig with one of those! (There were other reasons, but they all agreed that was the last straw.)

Seriously, though, there is nothing more eye-catching that silver or gold metalflake, but for the era and style you're talking about it would have been dayglo pink, yellow, green, or white just like so many others have said.

I just went to a show where a guy way in the back (it was a stage show, not a concert, and he was behind all the performers) had a gold sparkle guitar and it stood out like crazy all the way from the balcony.
