Most powerful single-coil sized humbucker?

Hi, I'm hoping this is the right place to ask this. I would like to know what is considered the most powerful single sized humbucker available, and if there is any consensus on such. I am interested in the closest thing that comes to rivalling a high output, 'metal' humbucker in terms of power. The only requirements are that it be single-coil sized (as it would be going into the BRIDGE position in an SSS Schecter strat) and that it also be PASSIVE. I'm thinking a Hot Rails for grimy Scandiwegian BM, but frankly any brand is fair game. Thanks in advance!

welcome to the forum!

the hot rails is the hottest duncan single coil size humbucker from duncan. the dimarzio fast track 2 or super distortion s are also high output single coil sized buckers

Re: Most powerful single-coil sized humbucker?

I thought there was a Duncan Designed Scorcher that was technically "hotter"...JB Jr. is hot, Hotrails are definitely Hot...if you have the dough then I'm sure the Custom Shop can make you a single coil sized humbucker as hot as you want. ;)

Re: Most powerful single-coil sized humbucker?

thats true, the duncan designed scorcher is higher output than the hot rails

I haven't played one, I personally love the tone of the Hotrails...would figure it would be a superior pickup IMO

That seems to be the consensus then. Cheers guys!

Edit: 'That' meaning Hot Rails :P

Re: Most powerful single-coil sized humbucker?

ive used a scorcher before when i worked at gc, it was high output but i liked the tone of the hot rails better

Re: Most powerful single-coil sized humbucker?

I like the Fastrack II the best of the single sized humbuckers. I also like the JB Jr neck.

Re: Most powerful single-coil sized humbucker?

i have no idea how hot it is, but single coil invader (custom shop offering) might be in the same league

Re: Most powerful single-coil sized humbucker?

Hot Rails, to me, sounds better than the Scorcher. A Stacked Invader might work too, but that would be from the Custom Shop.

I think my custom shop BW for Tele seems hotter than the hot rails it replaced. (I got it secondhand) (It also sounds pretty much like a black winter which is awesome.)

How does the Parallel axis stack fit in the heat scale? (I own one, but haven't finished the guitar it is going in)

Re: Most powerful single-coil sized humbucker?

guess i was feeling a little redundant there...

the custom shop can do magical things with wire and magnets. the pa stack isnt overly hot compared to the hot rails but i bet it would keep up with a cool rails neck

I'm kinda wondering... I just installed a whole set of DiMarzios in my Strat the night before last and while I don't think the tone of the FT2 is bad by any means, I'm just wondering if it's giving me as much "mid and bass punch" as DiMarzio claims it has. What I'm hearing is more of a tight, bright sound rather than a big chunky one. Then again, I'm used to the sound of a Duncan Custom 8 in a drop tuned Les Paul, so maybe that's the issue. Haha

Ok... I'm pretty sure that is EXACTLY the issue because I just did an experiment. I adjusted the FT2 to the closest recommended height according to DiMarzio, backed off about 1/4 turn on both sides and... WOW. Pretty sure this is the heaviest sound I've ever heard from a Strat. It's almost not right. LOL! Harmonics are effortless also. Amazing. Now I wonder what a BC2 could be capable of!
