Most powerful single-coil sized humbucker?

Re: Most powerful single-coil sized humbucker?

Ok... I'm pretty sure that is EXACTLY the issue because I just did an experiment. I adjusted the FT2 to the closest recommended height according to DiMarzio, backed off about 1/4 turn on both sides and... WOW. Pretty sure this is the heaviest sound I've ever heard from a Strat. It's almost not right. LOL! Harmonics are effortless also. Amazing. Now I wonder what a BC2 could be capable of!
Height is important with the single coil sized pickups because the sensing window is so narrow.

I've found that to be absolutely right. What's the "sweet spot" you've found with the FT2? I'm afraid to move any of the 3 pickups any closer than they are because even though these are supposed to have lower magnet pull, I don't want to go too extreme. However, I may need to pull the Chopper and Fast Track 1 in the neck and middle a bit closer to have more balance.

I wonder, have you noticed your Fast Track 2 to have sort of a "cocked wah" sound to it, especially when palm muting? Not sure what's going on there. It's still not incredibly thick sounding in this guitar. It's very tight and aggressive, but I still feel like I'm not getting enough "thump" from it.
