Most versatile (but not luxury) 7-string pickup set

Hi guys!

After a few years modding 3 6-strings guitars with gorgeous SD pickups sets (Pegasus-Sentient/ Telecaster Quarter Pounds/ P-Rails with the hot one on the bridge), I'm starting my fourth and maybe last project with a local luthier that will made all the woods with local (peruvian) material, a 7-string, hard-tail strings-through-body, sg-viper-ish bodyshape, set 3-piece maple-neck, with alder body, arctic white guitar (with black hardware, without pickup frames).

So, since this work will take quite a few months, I'm starting to think about the pickups. This guitar will be the most versatile in my collection, to use from funk, some jazzy riffs on clean, to chunky (but not muddy nor too much gain) 0-1-0-1 and chords (yes, I'm a more rhythm-oriented guitarist, but I'd do some licks some times). The styles go from funk rock, nu-metal, sludge metal, groove metal, funk metal, some experimental post-hardcore, and hip-hop.

At first, I was convinced on my reliable Pegasus-Sentient set, with split-coil to more options, but I haven't see on all internet a more specific comparison with another models of sets. I am not so sure of the 7-strings version of the JB/Jazz set, neither I didn't consider active pickups.

So, could you recommend me some another alternatives (preferible under 200$ because annoying taxes here in Peru)?

Thanks a lot!

For that I would research and look into sets that are popular with well rounded studio musicians, and have been converted into 7 string format.

You may want to look at the 59 neck and bridge for 7 string. It is a very versatile set that sounds great clean as well as varying levels of gain

If you already like the Pegasus/Sentient, I'd go that route.
