Most versatile config for Super Strat

Re: Most versatile config for Super Strat

Great point, I'm going with 22 tho, no worries. What bloody wanker needs 24??:naughty:

Re: Most versatile config for Super Strat

Looks like my jump off point will be: JB bridge, '59 neck, and still debating which SC will work best... any thoughts?

SSL-2 for vintage, or SSL-6 for a hotter modern sc sound.

For hum cancelling, may be classic stack plus for vintage or custom stack plus for modern.

I generally prefer the classic single coil design for the middle, don't like the single coil humbucker there, takes away the "spank"

Thanks... seems like SSL-1 or 2 are the best ways to go from what i've found around here. Def looking for the classic spanky ducky tones in pos. 2 & 4.

Re: Most versatile config for Super Strat

I completely understand what you're sayin Gypsy, but those cats all have their own unique sound happening... i'm not really searching for that. I just want one guitar that i can take to any gig, basically. Can't take more than one bc i'm usually also carrying pedals and sometimes a combo amp onto NYC subways & cabs. Can't tell you how many times i've had my LP but wished i could get a strat tone for a certain song, etc.

HSH using the 5way to split the humbucker coils in positions 2/4.

If you need more, add a few more toggles to:
1- Switch the neck 'bucker coils between serial and parallel
2- turn off one coil
3- select which coil gets turned off
4- put the two coild in or out of phase with each other
5- Add a toggle/jumper to allow a position 1/5 combo for the mid position LP tones. with the 2/4 positions you get all 3 pickups

Still want more?
1- Add a toggle to defeat the tone control for a little extra bite

I did all of those to a 1 bucker axe I had in the 80's. It was cool but ultimately I realized I never used any of those options. Ever since I build with the simplest circuit possible which is the base solution I suggested above. I don't even have a tone control on thestuff I make

This is the wiring scheme I'm digging most... Not sure if I'll be including S2 or S3 for sure yet. One option id like to add is full Neck & bridge HBs combined, LP style, in addition to the middle position in this diagram. How might I do that?
