Mother of All V Projects

Re: Mother of All V Projects

I think you asked about a replacement body for that neck some time back. I have to say that the one you have got yourself is REALLY cool! I'm madly envious of you ;)

Thank you, this pic is a bit odd … the color is a total "violin red" this way too purple here for some reason … will try to have it done by end of July …

Re: Mother of All V Projects

Switchcraft for your switch and jack. Cts or Bourns for yer pots.

I am goona get 500k for S-Deco Alnico five trembucker with a bit more out put then usual, tex mex in the neck, I will not be splitting S-Deco, just a two way switch, two volumes, universal tone, will CTs or Bourns make a difference in this case ?

No. CTS and Bourns both make good pots, so go with whichever you can find easier.

Re: Mother of All V Projects

All these vendors with all these specs ... i am lost. I need to volume pots, and a universal tone, I want 500K on the tone pot, I wanna try bourns. Is there a vendor that sells kits like these from whom i can also get a switchcraft LP style two way toggle switch ?

Re: Mother of All V Projects

Thanks Ayrton, as usual. 90 buicks for wiring comps ... hmm ... I am sure it is good, but I mean do I really need an authentic vintage set up? I am playing classic metal, the reason I got modified S-Deco for the bridge is to have a classic V mids but with more output and "modern" tight/focused bass. Will I really benefit from this set up, sounds like i will just over ride most of the things that you pay premium for this. Plus, I really want a two way switch, single coil in the neck/s-deco in the bridge dont want to mix them, what do you think ?

Re: Mother of All V Projects

Not at all, let's just figure what you need and then fill that need.

Bourns is great, but no reason to eliminate CTS from this.

Do you need/want independent volumes or would a master vol/tone set up be better?

Re: Mother of All V Projects

Universal tone, dedicated volumes, HB/NS switch - no splitting or phasing. 500k pots on all three knobs I suppose ?

Re: Mother of All V Projects

Thank you dude! My V is back routed. No pick guard and and does not split or phase it says it's a three way switch?

No, just want to switch between hum in the bridge and single coil in the neck, that's it, only two options

Re: Mother of All V Projects

You mean the one you shared above already? Sigler music has only one that mentions rerouting, and it does not mention a flyin ? V

You lost me... The $60 harness will work fine. Really any VVT V style harness should fit.

Am I missing something?

Re: Mother of All V Projects

Ok, cool so 920D Wiring Harness for Gibson / Epiphone Flying V (for models with a pickguard) should work with my back route per pics on page 2 of this thread. I guess I could make the mid position of the switch to be a mute?

Thank you again !

Re: Mother of All V Projects

Sure, and I bet you contact Toneman he can make you something custom (if you need it)
