Mounting an SM-2 in a Gretsch

Hi all. First post. I'll get to it.

Where can I find a mounting plate for a mini humbucker? I want to install an SM-2b in my Getsch Electromatic Pro Jet (import) but I need the mounting plate (some say mounting "bar") that screws into the cavity that the pickup actually mounts to.

I have a P-90 in there now screwed to the bottom wood of the cavity, but want to install the SM-2 properly.

I have specs on making one, but I don't have a metal shop at my house.

After endless hours of Googling, it seems to me this is the one guitar part that has never been offered by the aftermarket. Gibson doesn't offer them (at least not without the pickup also) and none of the pickup manufacturers do either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Mounting an SM-2 in a Gretsch

I found this on EBay just now, so it can be done. Since this is my second post, I probably can't post a link, but look on EBay for

Gretsch Electromatic Pro Jet Guitar w Duncan Pick Ups

Very nicely done.

Hope I'm not breaking any edicate rules, but I wanted to bump this just once to see anybody could help. Thanks.

Re: Mounting an SM-2 in a Gretsch

i might be wrong but you have to get some minor routing done. take it in to your shop and have them check it out

Re: Mounting an SM-2 in a Gretsch

My Deluxe does not use the plate, Gibson just drilled and pressed some threaded inserts into the cavities, and the Mini screws into that. You might be able to find something similar at a hardware store.

Thanks for the options guys. Guess there's more than one way to skin this cat.
