Multi-Effects Can you???

I am still up in the air on the individual pedals vs multi units.
One question I have is, can you do a multi Delay patch ala "The Edge" Gilmour etc...
Or once you program the Delay effect in one patch, you can't use it again?
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Also, since I'm not really interested in the amp modeling, what multi would best fit my bill for just great effects
Thanks,
Loudriver

Re: Multi-Effects Can you???

most multifx these days do the amp modelling, so if you just need good delays, get a dedicated pedal- don't spend the $ on fx you won't use. for the sound you are looking for, check out the line6 DL4 (download the manual and read it- lots of info about the edge and gilmour's delays). for most multifx, once you use an effect, you can't use it again, although you can switch between different settings of one effect.

Of course, with most multi-effects units, you can program multiple channels. There's no harm in programming multiple channels with the same settings EXCEPT a different delay. They are YOUR settings. Do what you wish with them.

Of course, individual effects tend to be better than multieffects units. But they are getting better.

However, most multieffects units have one effect that they just don't do well.

But I'm certainly not against such units. I played through a Line6 POD xt Live in church this morning.
