Music Man axis pickups

I picked up a set of music man axis pickups from a member here, was going to replace a AT-1 and EJ in a mahogany strat I have but thinking they will be similar (at least the AT-1) I just picked up a couple Epiphone les pauls with floyds, one is a nightfall les paul (mahogany body, maple neck, ebony fb) anyone put these pickups in a Les paul or similar guitar? or other guitars besides an Axis (which I have).

Re: Music Man axis pickups

The shorter scale length of the Les Paul would impact how the pickup reacts to the strings and would most likely lower the treble slightly.

Other than that we know the Axis pickup is rather similar to the Tone Zone, so it's not going to sound completely unrecognizable because high output pickups tend to sound fairly consistent

Re: Music Man axis pickups

I had a set of Axis pickups in a few guitars before I sold them. Not easy some come by on their own since EBMM will not sell them separately.

They're Similar to an air norton neck and a tone zone bridge or maybe an air zone, but not quite the same. They're really geared up to sound best in a 25.5 scale instrument. That said they sounded great in an ESP Eclipse I had. They're in that delightful area between gotter than vintage, but not as hot as you'd expect from a metal pickup. They're juuuuust right. The neck pickup especially is nice.

That sounds just like the Pegasus to me. Not too hot and muddy, not too weak and impotent, just right, like Mama Bear's soup.
