Music store visit w/ happy ending :)

Phantasmagoria

watch where you point that sabre
Yesterday I went down to a nearby guitarstore to get myself a strap for my Xiphos..

And there's this other dude who was there to buy a guitar and had narrowed it down to two. One being one of those new Indonesian made Fender's that everyone seems to be cribbing about & the other being this Tagima..

Anyway, as so often happens, guy was vascillating, said he could'nt decide & would come over again later and see...

Long and short of it was... I sniped it. I was drooling over it the moment I set eyes on it. Man there was absolutely no contest... this axe blew the Indo Fender away six ways from Sunday. Dude must've been blind & tone deaf. Anyway, I made the decision a lot easier for him...

This was the only piece they had of the Tagima axe & the Fender's are all over the place, like every store everywhere. They told him that too..but eh..people are so hung up on brands. Price-wise they were about the same..

Anyway, as soon as he pushed off I played it a bit (man.. it played phenomenal & sounded incredible!) And that was that, picked up another strap for it & home it came w/ me :D

I always liked the Tagima model (angular black one) Kiko Loureiro used to play in the 90's with Angra, it looked like something out of Star Wars :p

Plugged it into my Line 6 DT50 a short while ago... & tried a ballad w/ the neck pup (switched to the bridge towards the end..) You could melt panties in your sleep with the tones..just f'n fantastic. Plays beautifully too. This is easily as good as a high end Ibby AZ or my FGN's..

Absolutely love the colour/stunning top too...super unusual, plus the fretboard is drop dead gorgeous. Flawless fretwork...aesome neck..kinda substantial but smooth and fast. Pup's are brilliant. No complaints there. A great playing, high quality axe for not much more than what the Indo Fender cost..

Ballad: "Luv conquers all"

I've lost out on some insanely cool deals/guitars in my time...cuz of hesitation & procrastination..

Not anymore :bigthumb:

Some like hookers, blow & fast cars.....I like guitars :D

If I was that guy up there in the music store yesterday...I 'd be kicking myself in the nuts....right about ....NOW :lmao:

I would assume hot rails, but who knows?

"Luv Conquers All" V2 - w/ my TC Electronic Spark replacing the DOD250 in front of the amp ..just a snippet cuz eh, the ballad thing .....it gets boring after a while :lmao:

Still ..TONE is TONE ..it must be explored :bigthumb:

So now it's time to explore something more energetic & fun ...Shred-o-rama!

Now this axe does sound FINE.

But more importantly it also sounds 'unique' which is what I noticed right away when I heard that dude play it at the store yesterday (Thankfully he didn't :p)..warm and full yet blistering and full of bite/attack..

The highs are sharp and piercing but spatial w/o ever being raspy or harsh. They cut through like a knife w/ some sweet af harmonic overtones that nevertheless keep things sounding sweet......

Mids are full and fat and the lows are just perfect..clear and punchy, filling out the bottom nicely and rounding out the tone without ever sounding muddy or mushy..

It's actually got a great natural 80's metal/shred tone :bigthumb:

I'd bin the pills if I were you. They obviously are'nt working or you would'nt have all those Xiphos's :laugh2:

Maybe you'd have better luck if they were suppositories :lmao:

Sme thing (truncated) w/ the middle-bridge notch position. Got a bit of buzz/noise on the recording. Don't know where that came from...

Also, guitar needs tuning. Have'nt tuned it after I brought it home so I guess that's something I should do :p...

Wow ..sounds like shit ^^ I wonder what happened there?

Might have something to do with the fact that I've totally run out of disk space on my comp :(

I'll have to look into getting an external drive or something...

Pic ofthe back I forgot to post..

Nice solid chunk of Mahog... :bigthumb:

Tagima-Back.jpg

Guitar's on the heavier side, though I have'nt weighed it.

^^ Looks like the body might be just one peice too (?)....can't really see any joints.

Anyway. I deleted a bunch of my old files and freed up some space..so this is V2 with the middle-bridge notch position on the selector switch.....

Spacey rock ..

I might be the only one ....cuz of all the butthurt :lmao: , but eh, it sounds f'n glorious to me :bigthumb:

I am unfamiliar with the brand but that Kiko model checks a lot of boxes for me. I like your new axe also

Yeah I liked it (Tagima KIko model) a whole lot more than his Ibanez models which are pretty much just classic Saber's....nothing new/different about them. I'm a longtime Angra (& powermetal) fan so I was pretty much a Kiko admirer right from the get-go. In fact I've never even heard him in Megadeth (or heard anything by Megadeth that I've cared about since Rust in Peace). I remember that axe cuz it looked so different/cool.

Apparently Tagima is massive in Brazil...and in my humble opinion Brazilian & Finnish guitarists are the best shredder's in the world today.

So they know how to make a great guitar :bigthumb:

And a bluesy ballad wih the neck-middle notch position which is insanely touch sensitive & Stratty sounding..

Marshall JVM...

Nice Tagima. I'm not at all familiar with it but it looks very nice. I'm not much into the curly maple veneer top, but the back, neck, and fretboard are awesome.

Thanks :beerchug:

Yeah, fanastic slabs of wood for the body & fingerboard/neck, Pup's sound incredible too & everything pretty much screams quality...

Tbh, the top was what caught my eye first when I saw it on a stand near the guy in the store. I like those kinda 2-colour QM "fade-into-each-other" finishes that a lot of guitars have these days, but this combination was different from the usual blue/lemon yellow, red/cream, blue/green etc ones you see generally (which can sometimes be a tad gaudy)...so it caught my eye. But then what really impressed me was the sweet-yet-bitey tone and sustain...and luckily the guy could play so it was easier to pick up on...

I was super happy/relieved when he left....leaving this axe behind :lmao:
