hi
is it a versatile guitar ?
i don't know if this guitar has mahogany body too

but is better than a js and strat ? with some warm sounds too ?

funk, blues, fantastic vibrato ?

Re: musicman luke III

Best place for specification answers would be the EBMM website. http://www.music-man.com/instruments/guitars/luke-III.html

Versatility is subjective. Some instruments offer dozens of pickup coil permutations. Through forgiving amplification, some guitarists can extract a great deal of sonic variety from a Fender Esquire or a Gibson Les Paul Junior.

Re: musicman luke III

i am agree with you
my sg can have the sound of gary Moore, bb king, funk too and blues

but if there are users, let's talk about it :)
when i listen to Lukather, the sound is not fat for me

Re: musicman luke III

As you probably know, Lukather is associated with vast amplification and effect rack systems. With so much processing in the signal chain, it is difficult to assess the contribution of the guitar.

Aside from that, the sound that Luke gets is irrelevant. It is the sounds that you can produce that justify the expenditure.

Re: musicman luke III

now, i prefer guitar with mahogany body
the sound is warmer and better

i know that a LUKE has this

Re: musicman luke III

alder is not for the sound that i like
blues
warm tones
Gary Moore, bb King, john Sykes, SLash, Santana
all guitars with mahogany body

Adrian Vandenberg's Les Paul is mahogany, too, but his sound is thin AF.

Chances are, you won't know what the guitar sounds like until you try it. An underclassman of mine has a Les Paul studio, and that guitar is dead and has no balls.

Also all guitars with completely different pickups, scale length, bridges and neck joints than the most popular alder bodied guitars... which are teles and Strats. sounds to me you don't like Fenders all too much. Which is perfectly fine but you're jumping to conclusions about a guitar solely based on body wood and not the entirety of the guitar... it's not the difference in wood you're hearing... It's the completely different construction. Not to say wood can't have an effect. That's just not what you're hearing. B.B. King' s guitars were also not mahogany...

for example, Alex Lifeson has a les paul
i really don't like his sound

I'm sorry dude but you're all over the place... Les Pauls are predominantly made of mahogany. Before you said you prefer mahogany but now you're saying you don't like Alex Lifeson' s Les Paul sound... When Les Paul's are made of mahogany... which contradicts you're own logic. I think you're placing entirely too much weight on the body wood and writing off the other seemingly unlimited factors that contribute to a player's tone.

You should really check out a PRS. Medium scale length, most with mahogany body. Often wired with lots of pickup switch combinations.

Can be had with pure mahogany body (no maple top).

The bolt-on CE models are also very good and can be had at nice prices, less than a Luke.

Re: musicman luke III

i know all les paul's are with mahogany but i don't like the sound of Alex
i prefer Gary, SLash, john sykes
i tried a js, a strat, but now i prefer the sound and the radius of a LP or SG, that's all
and for bends too

i talked to my luthier and he told me LP had little radius vs strat
so, better for bends
