I've been browsing musicyo.com, where they do guitars including new steinbergers and kramers...

Some of them seem darn cheap. The "broom" Steinbergers are about $300, and the Kramer 1984 reissues weigh in at around $800. Being used to UK prices, that seems like next to nothing. Anyone bought from here? Is there a catch? Is the quality not so great? They seem to use mahogony bodies, not any of that ambiguous "agathis" stuff.

Those steinbergers, are becoming very, very tempting...

i used a steinberger gu standard from them for a few years. they need a good setup, but it was a good guitar (change the pickups though).

Re: musicyo.com

I used to have a Steinberger Spirit Broom from them and I agree. The pups are garbage.

If you get one, try to get the headstock lock adapter so that you can use regular strings, and not the double ball end, which in some cases are hard to find.

I have a Kramer Imperial (alder bodied, bolt on maple neck etc). Came to £160 total after taxes. I love it! Its not the best quality guitar i have but the price reflects that. The necks are pretty nice aswell. If you get one with quadrails you would probably wanna swap those out.

Re: musicyo.com

My local shop just received some of the really inexpensive Kramer strats...the ones that are about Squier level in price or cheaper. Iwas checking them out on Saturday.

I gotta say...they are put together better than the MIM Fenders and Squiers in the shop. The fret jobs are nicer, the nuts are cut better, and the neck to pocket fit is much better. I was pretty dang surprised. I saw some gaps on the MIM/Squier/MIA Fender stuff that was just horrid...you could almost put a quarter in the gap :smack:
