The thing with that is that I've never done it, so I don't want to practice for the first time on a brand new (pretty expensive) Musikraft neck. I'm pretty sure they'd do a way better job than I would with no experience. It'd also crack the finish, so I'd have to either order it raw and get no warranty or ruin the finish and get it redone.

I never really got the problem with threads coming and going over time. Isn't the point just the stuff that's up for discussion?

Well some things do change over time. But overall I agree with you. I've been around before this version of the forum was launched (Pre 2004) and as far as I can tell many times the same questions are asked over and over again... I'm not sure why it matters if it's a bumped thread or a brand-new one. IMHO of course.
