MXR Carbon Copy Delay

I picked up an MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay last week and so far it is one of my favorite delays yet. It was codesigned (maybe fully. I just don't know the full story) by the dude that runs Way Huge. What it is is an analog delay with 600ms of delay time plus modulation all in a package that's the same size as an MXR Phase 90.

If it tells you anything I sold a EH Deluxe Memory Man in order to get this little guy. I hate to say it, but I honestly like the MXR better than the DMM, but that's just me.

I just wanted to give a heads up in case any of you guys are in the market for such a pedal. IMO it is a steal considering all it has to offer for the (NEW) price of $149!

I was eyeballing one of these and wanted to try one out, but they had not come in yet (a few weeks ago). I grabbed an EHX Deluxe Memory Man (new one with Hazarai (sp?)). The EHX is good stuff, modulation, reverb on delays, hand full of presets, some looping, excellent, I repeat, excellent analogue delay sounds

I just saw an add for it in Vintage Guitar. I will be picking one up myself soon. I love an Analog delay, I am currently using a DD3

I'm not knocking it but you do know that the new SDDM (with Hazarai) is in fact a digital pedal and not using the old BBD chips like the Deluxe Memory Man right ?

Yup, I am well aware of that - that is one of the reasons why I was so impressed. The delays, modulation, and verbs are all very warm and tasty. You can get some serious Gilmour type soaring sounds out of it.

Bypass is perfect, effect mixes and volume are perfect. Engage pedal and there is no distinct volume change when delays of different varieties are in effect - no silly level problems of any kind.

Really nice unit overall - I am very happy with it, just kind of interesting that you find one thing when you are looking for another.

ive been using a keeley modded ad9 for a while now and i dont have one word of complaint. I have heard some pretty good things about the mxr though

I've thought about adding one of these to my board in addition to my AD-9, AD-9 for slap/short and the MXR for long, Gilmour type sounds.

How similar is it to the EHX DMM? I've always loved the sound of that pedal, but not the size or pricetag. Does it get somewhere in the ballpark of the DMM modulated delay type sounds?

I saw the demo guitar player for Voodoo Labs at NAMM using one of these in his pedal board. A/B'ed with a Boss DD-5 the Carbon Copy sounded warmer and more organic, not quite as digital. It did sound really nice.

That is the same reason I was interested in the Carbon Copy. I saw Andy Timmons at a clinic for Mesa amps. He was using the old DMMs and I loved the modulated delay. I still haven't gotten to try the MXR yet, but the EHX SDDM did it for me.

...I will try the MXR next chance I get.
