Yeah, anyone who wants more volume from the Tweak Fuzz owes it to themselves to try that mod. The pedal, as we sell it, remains true to the Saraceno Afro Fuzz design. So for production, so far we're sticking to the original design. But this is an easy mod that opens it up a lot.
It's simple enough to do at home. I'm not in the office today (post NAMM recovery) but I can get it for you tomorrow. It's more strain on the battery (N/A if you're using dc power) because the LED flashes the whole time, and the digital controller is not put to sleep. Right now, we put the controller to sleep when in bypass for battery save, but also so that each time you turn it on, it begins the cycle "on the one" of the beat. If it runs constantly, and your drummer wavers a little, the Shape Shifter could turn on in between his beats.
But since I'm in the initial research phase of an "in-house mods" program, maybe you can help. What do you think is fair for something like this if you were going to send it in? $20? $50?
frank: I'd love to help any way I can. In terms of pricing the mod, I'd have to know what goes into it in order to price it fairly. If you want to post here, that's fine; however, email is the best way to contact me. (just.like.honey@ gmail dot com)
I use a power brick to power my trem, so battery drain isn't an issue for me. Thanks for responding!
I didn't know the mod existed for a tweakfuzz. Last one I tried was WAY too low in volume to the point that it plainly wasn't useful. I wasn't trying to use it as a boost etc, cause this one was lower in volume than the guitar straight into the amp. I decided that the volume problem was too severe to be useful. I'll buy one if I can mod it for more volume. That's awesome!
