MXR pedals

Re: MXR pedals

So in my basket have the CC mini, analog chorus, flanger and Phase 95, think Im good?

Drop the analog chorus and switch it out for a Univibe. It's a much more useful and much less generic effect.

Re: MXR pedals

Phase 90 for basic Meat & Potatoes Phase
Phase 45 for the discerning Phase connesuer
Micro Amp - a personal fave of clean boost for me!
Dynacomp for fans of Comp as an Effect

I wouldn't mind a 10 Band EQ
I'd use a Carbon Copy in a heartbeat if I didn't have an 80's Ibanez AD9...

Never been a fan of the Distortions, however....

Our other guitar player just went back to the 78' Bad@$$ Distortion. Sounds great!

Re: MXR pedals

The go-to MXR pedals in the bass world are:
M87 Bass Compressor
M133 Micro Amp
M288 Bass Octave Deluxe
M82 Bass Envelope Filter
M81 Bass Preamp.

The rest of the MXR Bass products don't get much love.

A friend of mine has a Full Bore Metal and I think that it's a great distortion. I particularly like the noise gate feature and the mid scoop button.
In case anyone was wondering, the mid scoop doesn't have to be used, and it opens up the possibilities.

Re: MXR pedals

6-Band EQ is killer with guitar-centric EQ bands and +/- 18dB boost.

It's probably their best stomp ever in terms of tone & functionality.

Re: MXR pedals

Well Im glad the 6 band eq will be arriving at my door tomorrow along w the Phase 95 and a Carbon Copy mini delay. Now just need to figure out how to use the eq pedal.

Re: MXR pedals

NPD here, got the Phase 95, 6 band eq and Mini Carbon Copy. What little bit I got to play with the pedals, love evry bit. Think my fave is the eq, can really tweak everything.

I tried the eq in the loop, wow did that increase the volume, liked it but think Im gonna keep it in front of my Tumnus for now. May have to add a noise gate, with the eq and Phase 95 activated, theres some hiss. Nothing I cant live with and since I only play here at the house its not end of the world.

Now my chain is guitar-mxr 6 band eq-phase 95 - CC mini and red witch violetta - marshall jubilee, sounds amazing.

Re: MXR pedals

I got a Wylde OD a few years ago for about $40 on Black Friday from Sam Ash and realized it was the version that can be switched to the GT-OD with an internal slider. I wired that to a switch that I mounted on the top left of the enclosure, and now it's a two-for-one overdrive. For what it's worth, I like the smoother GT-OD version better. But for $40, it was a steal.

Great choices.

Re: MXR pedals

The Micro Flange is a beast I like it better than the 4-knob version.

+1

Owned both original and reissue 4-knob Flangers and sold both. Currently have a Micro Flanger on my board and if anything it sounds better while being easier to dial in.

Yeah, I agree with you. I prefer the GT-OD version too. I find it really transparent. Bought used for 50 euros one year ago. Good OD tones for the money.

Re: MXR pedals

Just saw used OD pedal for sale at the local Sam Ash with the Wylde slider inside for like $30. I have a good OD pedal, next thinking a true distortion pedal.

I think the ZW-44 deserves a chance, if it costs only 30 bucks. Moreover with the switch inside the pedal, you actually have two different stomp boxes. Be sure it's the first incarnation of the OD, because, if I am not wrong the berserker OD (the new version) does not have the switch. Have you already choose the distortion pedal?

Re: MXR pedals

The description clearly says switch inside to make it the Wylde pedal. Only issue with the actual pedal is the led light has fallen inside the housing.

Im leaning toward a Wampler Soveriegn, Catapulp, Triple Wreck or Dracarys. All the MXR distortion pedals seems to lack any low end and are kinda nasally.

Even though Im a fan of the mentioned distortion pedals, Im open to suggestions. Really probably dont need one but its always fun to play with.
