I've tried a friend's pedal. I would get one if I would have use for one. For me, the Uni in the Fractal is good enough (and in the HX Effects, too), but I am not a Univibe expert.

Yeah Univibes are funny. You can 90 percent of the sound with half the components, but that extra 10% is worth it

Is there any reason why they make these pedals so big? Is it just tradition, or do the components for authentic sound just take up a lot of space?

no idea. i think the vibe-bro is big cause the original was big

You can make a univibe fairly small. Probably not as small as the standard "mini" pedal size, but pretty close. The thing that takes up so much space in the original ones is the "tone fuse" that you have to replace if you try to put to much tone through it at once

I use a NEO Ventilator for my vibe-like effects it is big, and they pack every sq inch of the thing with components.

the ventilator is great for leslie stuff, but a univibe is an odd duck. few things do its trick well

Nothing comes close to the originals and they're pricey. But what a sound.

I'd been wanting a univibe pedal and most websites recommended the tc electronic viscous vibe. It didn't last 2 days on my pedalboard, but having followed this thread I might go for the mxr

Not the the out of the box vibe/tremolo presets, but some of the people in the user's group have been chasing the UniVibe sound for years, and a couple of guys made some realistic patches with the Harmadillo and Phaser algorithm.
