My baby, she has come back to me

Some of you may remember this guitar. I got her last year, looking like this:

She was the best playing guitar I'd ever had, but the EMG's had to go. I had her pickupless on my wall for the last eight months. It physically pained me looking at her like that - a reminder that I was broke and jobless.

Well, I finally got a job a month ago, and to celebrate, I thought I'd give the infamous Pearly Gates set a try.

Now:

For now, crappy cell pics. Tomorrow, I break out the DSLR.

I wired the switch in backwards, the bridge's tone isn't working, and I need to redrill the top strap button hole - but hot damn, I forgot how amazing this guitar is. It makes me play better, and it's easy to play better on it than my telecaster. And even though I haven't even adjusted the pickup height or anything they already sound great. The bridge stays in tune like a mother****er - I do things I could only imagine on it.

In short, my dream guitar. Then why am I buying another guitar this month? Stay tuned to find out!

EDIT: is it just me, or does it look like the late 70's Kramer that never was?

Awesomeness.

Always liked that guitar. I think I like it even better now.

Congrats!

looks like a heap of sweetness!

is it a neck thru?

That's sweet. I definitely see the late 70's Kramer look.

Indeed - maple/brazillian rosewood/maple neck thru with brazillian rosewood fretboard. Love that brazillian

Fo shizzle. Let us know how those PGs sound in there.

I haven't tested them loudly yet, but I really like them so far. I'm going to jam with a drummer friend of mine, and I'll get to crank up my Dr Z Sr 65 and his orange thru an old 4x12 with Rola's. Fun times

That sounds like it has the potential to be quite dark sounding. Which make the choice of a PG set perfect for that guitar. I predict you'll be quite satisfied. Congrats!
