My Charvacaster with a Dimebucker

I'm finally using a Dimebucker in something!
I cut this body from one piece of Honduran Mahogany about a year ago and never did anything with it. I made the neck recently from Maple and it has a Zebrawood Fingerboard and Jumbo Stainless Frets. I used Chrome Mini Schaller Tuners, an Original Floyd Rose and a Seymour Duncan Dimebucker. A Gibson 500k Pot for volume and a few more chrome pieces finished it off.

I gotta go re-supply on strings and then I'll crank this baby up later.

Iron Horse beat me to it. Thanks Man! I'm leaving to get strings; I can't stand it anymore. I have to play it!

Re: My Charvacaster with a Dimebucker

wow nice work..... i'm hoping that on Monday to have access again to a well stocked wood shop with some industrial tools.... i have not hand made a guitar in ages... i have been wanting to pretty much make that exact guitar you have made for a while now! a Single bucker Charvel inspired strat.... i hope i can start mine soon

what type of light finnish is on that body? oil?

Re: My Charvacaster with a Dimebucker

I actually clear coated the body and wetsanded it. Then I hand rubbed it out because I didn't want it too shiny.
I rubbed the neck down with tung oil and strung it up. It sounds great, but I haven't played it too much because I need to intonate it. I used an R2 Nut also and I cut the neck for an R3. I might swap them later.

I didn't realize people put the strings on backwards on Floyd guitars!

I'm gonna have to study up on how everything's done before I attempt to put together a guitar with one.

Re: My Charvacaster with a Dimebucker

what method did you use to cut the fret slots... how did you find the placements? a scale ruler from stew mac?

Re: My Charvacaster with a Dimebucker

very cool.... that flame maple strat neck looks like i nice piece of wood!!! post photos when done!

Re: My Charvacaster with a Dimebucker

yeah, the cig burn on the headstock was painful, but what's the use in replicating something if you don't go all the way.

Re: My Charvacaster with a Dimebucker

i was concerned as i was building it because of the brass nut and the stock fender trem. i'm used to a floyd rose and i play kinda rough, but i've worked on the setup and tweaked it so it stays in tune and i love it. it sounds great too!

thats cool... at least it is VH1 correct... now you will just have to make the red Frankie version and save the $25,000!!!

i maybe starting to get access to a wood shop tomorrow..... i'd be ordering my wood tomorrow as well but i have a sick dog and he has zapped all my money in vet bills... tomorrow i may have to put him down... but i can't wait to get started on some more guitars... i have some double neck projects to finnish first anyways... but i plan to get some Alder and Ash body blanks from a Canadian lumber place that supplies guitar makers the goods.....

i see in some of the photos it looks like you are using some of Stewmac's Truss Rods.... can you explain all the steps you take installing your truss rods... so far i've just used older Warmoth rods i ordered in bulk 6-7 years ago... i have a few left... Some people say they fill the rod channel with glue or other stuff... i've just been laying them in and putting the boards on
