the guy who invented fire
Fuzzy. Guitars
Well...in another thread Scottish and Curly want to know more about this plus I have gotten a few other PM's as well so I'll just started a thread...
First let me say my pedalboard is in a constant state of change at the moment and it's looking a bit sloppy in these pics but I htink you guys will get the idea. As sad as this is Im still working on it and even have a few more pedals on the way so there will be a swap or 2 made real soon and maybe one more addition but for now this is it...
So, I have both dirt and boost and fuzz pedals on the board and some of them I like using together and som I do not so with the help of my Loop Master switcher I can get all the sounds I want with far less tap dancing.
It looks like this:
Notice...5 lights but only 4 switchs...here is the run down.
From left to right the lights are labeled loop 3, loop 1, loop 2, bypass and tuner. Now, the switch hard left is the off/on for loop 3...loop 3 for me in this setting is used for patching in effects that are not on the board that I might add or take away at any given time and might be of very little use to you guys but thats what it is and does.
Now, the next switch...notice it's between the LED's for loop 1 and 2...that switch simply toggles between those 2 loops (1 and 2) and this is the key to my set up...in loop 1 I have a fuzz (right this minute my AnalogMan NKT275 Fuzz Face) and that the only pedal in that loop and in loop 2 I have my Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster and that runs into my AM Beano Boost and that runs into my King of Tone and that the end of loop 2.
Moving on the BYPASS switch bypasses ALL these loops...1, 2 and 3 with one stomp and the tuner is simply a tuner mute function that lets me silent tune plus it keeps the buffer in the Boss tuner away from my fuzz pedals.
Now, back to loops 1 and 2...what this set up lets me do is, while using loop 2 I can use my King of Tone and stack that with the pickup booster when Im playing Fender guitars as well as stack it with my Beano for more gain and different tonal options and even if just 1 or even all 3 of those pedals are on I can simly switch to the Fuzz Face with one stomp or by stomping the BYPASS switch I can go to a clean signal.
So, here is the whole board...ignore the red Fuzz Face and the JMI Tonebender, they are not hooked up...I've just been fuzz testing lately!
So the signal chain goes like so...guitar ->Octron->wah wah pedal-> Loopmaster switcher->chrous->tremolo->Echoplex (not pictured) out to amps.
In the looper is the "dirt switcher" and it really does work quite well...Brian at Loopmaster makes several different variaitions of these units and does them completely custom as well if thats what you need.
The beautiful part is that you can put whatever you want in these loops and do almost anything you want with them. Brian calls them "Clean/Dirty effetcs switchers" but in my case it's a Dirty/Fuzzy effetcs switcher.
Scottish, this would easily let you set up your board with a dirt box, a compressor and a fuzz and never have to hit more than one button to go from dirt+compressor to fuzz and not have to worry about the fuzz playing well wiht the other pedals.
Anyway, I've rambled long enough...Im off to mess with my board a little more!
