My Custom now sounds much better

Due to the fact that the stock Custom has a searing top end with brittleness, I replaced the magnet with an Alnico 5. Plugged in and let her rip. I was quite impressed with the change. Now the Custom sounds much more rich, smooth, and creamy in the top end. That brittleness is now gone.

It was a fun procedure to do. No problems at all.

Re: My Custom now sounds much better

My story: I hated a Custom in a maple necked Alder strat, even more after i swapped an polished A5 in. The Custom went into the drawer. Over a decade i only used alnico pup including an C8. Last year i got a Distortion by chance and just for ****'n'giggles i swapped it into a Les Paul. Great grind and very useful sounds, but i tad too heavy for my style. Out came the ole Custom: Holy cow, just what i needed in the Les Paul. A good deal more push than a PAF, but still bluesy.
Next i try a my favorite mag the UOA5 in it.
