My Custom Shop experience!

And they are installed! Just spending a little time tweaking the setup on them now!!!!

Mmmm - Pearly Gates Goodness!!!

Neck is fat and cutting, Bridge is bright and gnarly. All three positions yield lovely and different tones. Bridge is just awesome under distortion...

Sounds almost exactly like my Dean Cadillac with the same setup.

How do they compare to your 57s?

How do they compare to your 57s?

I would say the neck PG has both more upper mids and a sweeter top. No surprise - that's the definition of a PG. The 57's were a little more even. Maybe a little brighter on the highs.

The Neck PG is brighter and more gritty/gnarly/bitey than the 57 Plus bridge. The 57 Plus was definitely a smoother more polite critter. I'll go so far as to say The 57+ is perhaps a better clean pickup. But when the dirt shows up, the PG just kicks it @$$.

That said - for some clean stinging blues, the PG would definitely be my choice.

So is it a big improvement? And are the 57s gonna end up in another guitar?

As I have mentioned - I really like the 57/57 Plus. They would work just fine.

I wouldn't call it a "big" improvement - but it is definitely different, and in ways I like.

I will likely keep the 57sd...just in case I get the urge to classic up something...

Thanks Aceman for posting about your experience. My only experience with the Custom Shop was having MJ wax pot a microphonic Firebird Antiquity II pickup and extend the lead on it that was cut short.

Good to know the Custom Shop is back up an running for custom orders. I haven't seen the build your own humbucker page or the rewind/repair pages on the Custom Shop website since the pandemic.

Speaking of which, I was playing some Journey last night - Stone In Love, for an upcoming work-band show...

Man, That bridge PG was just NAILING some Neil Schon through my SD1/Marshall 800 setting on my POD Go!

Really loving playing the rock on this. Loving the Green Les Paul too!
