My DS1 mods

Well I figured I'd finally compile the list of mods I did to my DS1. It's so far my best pedal. With the gain on 0 you get a very warm light crunch, but it gets quite heavy and cleans up nicely. So let me arm myself with the multimeter and here we go:

(some have the values, some the codes, I can't be arsed recalling each things :laugh2:)

Clipping:
I decided not to go for the big 1N4001s I usually use.
side 1 = 3mm red LED + 1N4148
side 2 = 1N4148

Caps:
C14, C8, C9, C2: 1uf
C1, C3, C5, C12, C13: 104
C11: 0.047uf
C4: 471

Resistors:
R2: D2 (hahaha no, it's 1M)
R14: 1.5K
R39: 22K
R35: 1K
R17: 12.5K (...er... what? I may have used a 'as close as' value there... not sure what it was meant to be...
R13: 2.2K

That's all I can figure out for now. This is a mix of different mods and tries I did over the months and so far it's just what I want. But don't take my values for granted, I measured the resistors while they were in the circuit so it won't be too accurate, but most of them are checked.
As you can see I've used ErikH's mods as the basis for these, so thanks Erik!

Y'all feel free to try these.

Re: My DS1 mods

Ah I finally found the purpose of each mods:

R35 changes the LED brightness
C1 and C5 are the input/output cap.
- R16 = + low mids
- R17 = + highs
- R13 = + Distortion
- C3 = less compression
- C10 = + low end
+ C12 = + mids

I also used Indyguitarist mods for these, and some are actually my own. Took me friggin' ages to get my DS1 to where it's at now but I doubt I'll change it any more!

Re: My DS1 mods

I see a lot of Keeley Ultra Mod values in there in some of the spots. I never knew how great a DS-1 could sound w/ the correct mods!

Re: My DS1 mods

No clue, I never looked into the Keeley mods nor have I ever tried any of his pedals. I arrived at these values by trial and error over months of research :D If they correspond to mods already existing, it's because I liked them best. Obviously ErikH got a lot of them right for my taste!
