I can take pictures, but the picture posting feature of this site does not work with my screen reading software (pretty much near completely blind, no central vision), so it'd be cool if someone would not mind posting the pictures for me?
Anyways, my local shop, Mr Music in ALston, MA (pretty much Boston) has a pretty solid flow of used LPs coming in the door. I regret not snagging an original run Supreme LP from them back in summer of 2010 and then a great Wine Red Traditional Pro II from them in fall of 2014. After selling off 3 guitars and moving some gear, I finally told myself I wanted to get my hands on a solid Les Paul. The shop got a few new second hand LPs in on consignment this past Friday so I swung by. I tried out a Classic Custom in natural finish in mint condition (sounded good, would have been great with a good setup) but was damn heavy. I then was focusing in on a Cherry Red Standard from the mid 1990s. It felt good, played well, but the picups were not totally my thing and were a bit too hot for what I was looking for. I tried out a 1990 black Custom and really dug it, but the neck was a little too narrow for me.
Then I tried out the Les Paul I just picked up, a 2004 Custom Shop Elegant in Peacock Green with a quilted maple top, 1 piece body and neck, ebony board and chambering. The chambering is done well and the guitar is pretty damn lite. It just plays so easily, I thought it had 9 gauge strings. I just brought it to my tech today and had him put on a set of chrome Schaller locking tuners and raise the pickup height just a smidgen. Since I can not see, I can not confirm this, but my buddy at the shop told me that it has WCR pickups in it as well.
I sold my USA Strat last week and am thinking about selling my black Midtown CUstom, as this thing came right in at $3k, which is actually a pretty good deal.
The compound radius on these, which I believe is 10-16, makes it so damn easy to bend strings.
...I'm in the cool club now!!!
