My first Marshall cab is a beauty!

Re: My first Marshall cab is a beauty!

Retolexing is a pain in the butt. Try hitting with some mineral spirits or a light stripper. Try to keep away from heavy duty paint stripper it will dull the tolex and dry it out.

The whole back is in tears a foot long. It might be a pain but I'm going for it

Re: My first Marshall cab is a beauty!

Ripped off ...

If it's in good condition structurally, you didn't get ripped off. For $50 you got a solid base to build up and you got 3 speakers, 4 if you re-cone. You could probably go overboard on aesthetics and end up with something that wasn't worth the money you put in. But you can fix it up nice, within a decent budget and end up with something of value. IMO, the sweat equity adds value (personal) too. Besides, were talking $50 here, not $500. Enjoy the project.

Re: My first Marshall cab is a beauty!

It's a project for fun and structurally sound

It will be fun for me and I can make it however I want and keep it

I'm not looking for an amazing resale

Re: My first Marshall cab is a beauty!

Yeah, just mess with it and have fun. You could burn it to the ground and only be out $50.

I wouldn't recommend painting the cones again, but, with the right grille cloth, you won't see them anyway, so who cares?

It'll be fun to see what you end up with

Re: My first Marshall cab is a beauty!

3 working speakers and a usable cab, score!

If you use a lighter colored grill cloth I doubt you'd be able to see silver spray paint (assuming you don't wanna respray the cones), or the missing or mismatched speaker. :)
