my first "new" bass

Re: my first "new" bass

If it were not prone to hum and interference, how much use would you make of the J pickup?

mostly when i wanted the bass to cut through and handle a melody rather than the rhythm section i.e. bass solos and what not. they make hum cancelling j pickups i just havent played bass enough to know what i need there

Re: my first "new" bass

My guess is that the stock pickups will be Cortek, G&B or Powersound units with stud polepieces and underslung ceramic bar magnets.

I am tempted to suggest active replacement pickups but I do not know whether there is space in the routs for a battery. Buying pre-owned pickups would keep your expenditure in proportion with the value of the host instrument.

Re: my first "new" bass

according to site they are "dynamix'' pickups. its all top route so idk either. i also dont know if active would fit my play style as i aim for versatility between punk, blues, alt, and metal. but also i am still very new to bass as i prefer guitar and only play bass due to a lack of bassists (competent or otherwise) in my area.

Re: my first "new" bass

Remind me to move to where you are. I need a lack of competition.

lack of everything here, common sense, people in general, music stores, musicians, decent interweb providers, in essense i need to fricking move (darn censorship forcing me back to 6th grade grammar.)
