Re: My first time owning a stainless-fretted guitar
The thing about SS is that they have to be done right the first time, because if they aren't radiused and seated right, you'll have problems later that you most likely won't be able to correct because SS is VERY hard and is ridiculously stubborn if you ever have to go back and reseat them for any reason....which makes it an even importance for doing right on compound radius boards.

Goddamn. I originally intended to pick this little stick up on Wednesday, but he's already finished. Guess I'll have to make an NGD post tomorrow evening.

Re: My first time owning a stainless-fretted guitar
just shy of 8 months of play time on my old Epiphone 335....Not every day, but averaged about 20 hours a week. I wasn't going to spend more than the guitar for a re-fret. I gave it to my brother who is practicing re-frets, nut work, elecronics work, etc., on it.
After 13 months, my Gibson is starting to show similar. The first few frets (cowboy chords) are really getting chewed up. I am contemplating a complete re-fret, stainless.
Re: My first time owning a stainless-fretted guitar
My experience is closer to yours Jeff. My Epi's frets and my first MIA Strat's frets are pretty chewed up in the first posistion, and the 5th/12th fret areas are flattened.
Re: My first time owning a stainless-fretted guitar
I only have one guitar that ever got played consistently enough to have worn frets..thats the squire I bought after I hadnt had a guitar in many years after marriage. Otherwise, Ive jumped around so much and just dont play much.. sadly....
