So my GF's 15 year old nephew has an Epi LP 100 that he loves (I know). He was talking about really wanting the Wylde bullseye painted on it but didn't know the first thing about painting. Well I got with him and was talking to him about taking it and painting the bullseye for him for a Christmas gift. He said that would be great but actually a goldtop is his #1 choice. That actually came as a relief because I didn't want to mess with masking a perfect circle and I always have spots where the paint goes under the tape making a fuzzy line. So I went through the thousands of color card we have at work and found a damn-near perfect match (from an internet pic). While I had it I got him a Graph Tech nut to replace the POS plastic one. I had to order the pickguard since he didn't have one. I also ordered inlay stickers from Japan (http://www.inlaystickers.com/servlet/StoreFront this place has great stuff, they look real, they don't peel and they're not expensive- I have 2 sets). I took out his stock beater pickups and put my GFS Fat Pat pups in (I put a ceramic mag in the bridge). I ended up having to replace the pots on it since the previous owner f@cked them all up. I got it finished and tuned to drop C like he wants. I was nervous how the pickups would do with a mahogany guitar tuned that low, I thought everything would turn to mush but it is surprisingly articulate and clear, even the neck pup. So that's my good deed for the day. We're going to Kentucky on the 5th so I'll give it to him then.
