My JSX arrived broken

The JSX finally arrived. When i went to pick it up out of the box by the handle, the head case crumbled apart and the amp fell back into the packaging. Luckily, it still works fine.

Since i only paid $570 shipped for it, it came with JJ 6l6's, and i was re-tolexing it anyway, I'm probably not gonna raise a big stink..... But I am a little aggravated. I'm also surprised at the particle board head case.

Since I'm building a cab anyway, I'll just build a better quality case while I'm at it.

Dude. WTF? That thing must have been bumped around hard. PVs are generally bulletproof. Mojo sent, at least you are cool about it. I would've gone Hulk Smash and junk.

It looks spectacular but easy to repair. MFD isn't plywood. Unless you feel that the previous owner weakened it when re-tolexing it I wouldn't blame him too hard.

Obviously packaged wrong. I've had tons of heads shipped to me and all of them arrived just fine.

It's pressboard. Not plywood. Plywood would have laughed off a hit like that.

About 10 years ago I sold puckboy (iirc) my 1987x. I packaged the living bejeesus out of it. Puckboy even commented that he could not believe it got busted up. It still arrived worse than that JSX. Luckily I was on really good terms with the local UPS store and they went to bat for me to get the claim settled quickly.

$hit happens unfortunately. Sorry to hear/see your new amp thrashed.

wow, that friggin sucks dude. mojo sent. I would not have expected peavey to build an artist model amp with pressboard for the cabinet. That's a buncha BS right there.

Yea im pretty sure the head cab had gotten wet or something, because it came apart easily, and the packaging was good. He mentioned that it was his son's amp.

I've had amps shipped to me from around the world, just stock-boxed ..and they've arrived fine. I really think there might have been a pre-existing issue for it to just fall apart like that.

I was going to say the inside of the "wood" looked as if it had been wet.
Well, at least you'll have the handle and corners for your new build, and it'll be out of some actual wood this time!

Definitely looks like it got soaked at some time. Wet particle board is about as strong as toilet paper.

I give you kudos for your calm. I would have hunted down every UPS worker that touched it during shipping.

I didn't see anywhere where you said the amp still works , does it?
Such a shame man , I had a JSX and loved it , I would own another one no problem. It's such a good amp , very versatile and the clean channel is very nice. It's exactly what I wanted out of a 5150 and didn't get.
If it was me I would get another cabinet from Peavey.

1) If the box showed no signs of water I would have given the seller an earful and I would have my money. That is just unacceptable. If the case has been soaked as has been speculated, I am not blaming UPS for this one

2) I understand why Satch left Peavey
