My Les Paul pickup search may be over!

Since I purchased my Traditional, I've been searching for the right pickups to replace the classic 57/57+ pickup set that was in it. First, I went down the route that I'm familiar with (medium/high output). I tried a JB, a Custom, a Custom 5, and a Custom 8 in the bridge. I liked the JB and the Custom 8, but they just felt very one dimensional. I tried a 59 in the neck and it was ok. It got a little better with an A4 magnet swap.

Then, I saw a brand new set of Seth Lovers on ebay for a good price, so I figured I'd give them a shot. Wow! These are what I've been looking for. The bridge has the right balance of bite and warmth. And the neck is so creamy, but not muddy. And they're very dynamic. I'm finally loving my LP,  both for its looks (which I have since day one), and now it's sound as well.

Don't mess with perfection, but one day if you feel inclined to grab a set for another guitar, test them out with an A3 neck and UOA5 bridge. You'll thank me later.

I hated the UOA5 in the Custom.

What type of difference could I expect in the Seth's?

What did you hate about it in the Custom?

SETHS are great.

I have a set in my Santana PRS.
One of the best pick up swaps i have ever made.

I am happy when we read of a successful transplant. Congrats on the new pickups- they are some of my favorites, too.

Seth Lover are awesome pickups. I've got a bridge and I put a Allnico II in the neck. Sounds great!!!!

Don't mess with perfection, but one day if you feel inclined...

...remove the covers from those Seth Lovers!

IMO, they sound even better without covers.

And you might find a pair of zebras or even a double cream or two.

Seths and Antiquitys are my favorite Duncan humbuckers.

I play a lot of one dimensional music, so the one dimensional pups work for me...

I find Poison and Firehouse very complex.

You can count me as a lover of the Lover. Fantastic sounding pickup. Glad to hear its working so well for you.
