My Modded Wah Wah is back.

The guts picture. Hey!!!! Cannot eat this kind though.

Changes made:
68k resistor to 47k
33k resistor to 56k
1.5k resistor to 2.4k
470 resistor to 330
.01uf capacitor to .015uf
spst switch changed to dpdt and pedal rewired for true bypass with no cross-talk or clicking
potentiometer adjusted to maximize sweep
all resistors used are Allen Bradley carbon composition 5% tolerance
Capacitor is a 715P metallized polypropylene Sprague Orange Drop


Definitely an improvement over the old Cry Baby sound. The sweep is nice and smooth from low to high. The by-pass works excellent. The only thing I wish that it had is a longer sweep, but that is how the Cry Baby/Vox pedals are made.

Does this guy do repairs? I have a complete wah (BYOC kit), but its way too subtle - kind of like rolling your tone control up and down really quickly instead of that vocal 'awww' sound - I'm sure it's something really simple, I'm just tired of messing with it, and would like to just have somebody fix it so I can use it again.

Looks great by the way - bet it sounds killer too.

Sounds like the old vintage wah wahs! The Cry Baby has more of a mid rangy sound than the Vox pedals. This mod gave it more sparkle for sure.

additional info: This mod on the Cry Baby will not handle the heavy distortion (eg) metal.

After talking with someone who knows many wah-wahs on the market and working with many, it highly depends on the gear and how you set you amp for the wah to perform.

So me blatantly saying it does not work for metal....I was WRONG once again. It just might work fine for you. I have much experimenting yet to do.

Just wanted to clear that up.

That is all I have to say about that.
