Curly,

I ordered Dave Hunter's book a couple of weeks ago, should be here any day according to Amazon. Can't wait.

BTW, nice work on the amp project:bigok:

daves book is what sparked my intrest in building a 6l6 single ended amp. im using much of the same circut with bigger transformers and building it as a head.

jeremy,
I got an email from Dave Hunter ... he's since simplified the circuit to 1-6L6. He said it's simpler and sounds as good. that would allow you to use a stock 5F2 chassis.

Dave's book arrived yesterday. Excellent, well-written, and I had a hard time putting it down.

I'd prefer aluminum too!

If you have O' Connor's volume III, he uses a Hammond aluminum chassis for his Champ project that should work -- I'll get the dimensions and model # this evening.

if you look at the blog link earlier in this thread, he used an aluminum chassis, and mentions the size.

Have you checked out http://www.komboking.worldbreak.com/ I might try him for my next project.

jeremy,

Hunter's book recommends a chassis ~ 14 x 6 x 3"

O'Connor's Champ project recommends a 12 x 8 x 3" chassis

the blog project above used a 12 x 8 x 2 Hammond chassis

take your pick ....

AES has some of these in stock:
Hammond alum. chassis

Re: my name is Curly, and I love amps ...

it's going ... slowly

I got updated notes from Dave Hunter, and ordered a couple different parts, so I was waiting on those

yesterday I test mounted the components on the chassis, next I'll measure, cut,and prep the leads

I also have to drill a few holes on the chassis

I'll post when it's done

here's where I'm at:

Well that's alot farther than I am! I'm still on the fence about building an amp. I'm thinking for my first build I might be better off going through Mission Amps for their $75 fix-it if I screw it up. Anyway, we look forward to 'hearing' about the finished amp.
